Discover First Angle Rules
Tag 'Here we will place different tags' Tag

Description/Aim

Students become familiar with Dynamic Geometry and explore some of the rules that they may have come across. The activity asks students to create diagrams that show angles in a triangle, angles on a straight line and angles around a point. They are asked to measure the angles and the sum of the angles and then investigate what happens when they change the angles!

Teachers Notes - Why? How? What?

Why we like this activity ….

Often a first experience of dynamic geometry, the activity gives students the chance to explore on a
level they could not before at a level of accuracy that cant be achieved with pen and paper! Discovery
and testing that helps to consolidate ideas

How this activity be used ….

I like students to do this on their own and keep the worksheet digital, including screen shots as they go.

What to expect when using this activity – from our experience

It is a really good idea to prepare for this with an activity designed to help students become familiar
with the software. see suggestions on 'Angles in Shapes'
