Why we like this activity ….
A notoriously difficult area to visualise is really brought to life by dynamic geometry! Nothing is more powerful than observing for your self. This leads to firmer longer lasting understanding and encourages students to move static images ion their heads when faced with paper problems!
How this activity be used ….
Students need individual access to computers for this one so they can do it themselves and make a useful record as well.
What to expect when using this activity – from our experience
There is a need to be familiar with dynamic geometry and it is worth spending time on this before hand so that it does not get in the way. My favourite questions are the ones that students ask about what happens when the arrowhead isn't an arrowhead anymore. This gets right to the heart of the matter and leads to discussions about construction!
